    An increase in sewer tap fees may be imminent, and those who dump RV holding tanks at Saratoga’s dumping station will get a lot more honest following a meeting of the Saratoga Water and Sewer Joint Powers Board (sewer board) on Wednesday The board approved draft legislation to increase tap fees. The board agreed to install, on a trial basis, a credit card operated kiosk that is intended to capitalize on RV dumping that is not being paid for under the current honor system.     “We can finally put this to bed,” Saratoga Airport Board member Richard Raymer said at the committee’s April 14 meeting. Raymer was referring to proposed changes to the lease agreement hangar owners must sign if they wish to use a hangar at the facility. David Erickson, an attorney representing Saratoga, had looked over the proposed changes in the lease and found them unnecessary.   • Emergency training to be held at Sinclair Refinery

    Carbon County Emergency Management (CCEM) will be holding a homeland security training exercise on Friday, April 22 near the Sinclair refinery. The exercise will be held on property belonging to the Sinclair refinery, but will not be held at the actual refinery facility, John Zeiger, director of CCEM, said. Multiple agencies will be involved in the exercise, according to documents released by CCEM. The exercise is sponsored by Sinclair Refinery, CCEM, and the Wyoming National Guard.     DeNiele "Dennie" Rae Kubit, 60, passed away April 14, at home with family and loved ones by her side. Dennie was born Dec. 12, 1955, in Sand Point, Idaho, to John and Christeena Marich. She grew up in Thompson Falls, Mont., and graduated from Thompson Falls High School in 1973. Dennie then worked as a nurse at a local hospital where she met her first husband, Greg Dunster. Greg was unexpectedly taken in a car accident, one year after their marriage. Dennie then moved to Michigan and met her... Full story

    Kenneth "Ken" Peryam, age 67, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday April 16, 2016 at his home. He was born April 29, 1948 in Baltimore, Md. to David R. and Gail (Terwilliger) Peryam. He married Margaret "Peggy" Miller on July 26, 1969 in Park Forest, Ill.     Editor, The Town has been approached by Jared Mason, SHS teacher, to see if the Town can use the services of four of his students in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) to help them earn money to go to Atlanta, Ga., in June to compete at nationals. They need $4,500 for this. Mr. Winter knows we need extra muscle at the Saratoga dog park to do repairs to the holding enclosure to eliminate dangerous ice and snow between the holding pen gates.     Saratoga High School (SHS) had it’s first athlete qualify for the state track and field championships April 15 at the Burns High School Track Meet. Sophomore Jeremy Detterer took second place in the 3200 meter run, with a time of 10:52.32, earning himself the chance to compete against the fleetest feet in the Cowboy State May 19 to 21 in Casper.     Saratoga's Morgan Rempel will be going to nationals in San Diego for his Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) project, which was an end table made of recycled materials for the Recycle and Redesign portion of the state competition.     Riverside Town Council met Thursday for its monthly meeting where tree removal in the park dominated discussion. Last month, the council voted to remove trees that posed a hazard from the town park. After consulting with a tree removal contractor, the town decided on removing 28 trees from the park. The trees to be removed are dead or diseased, and falling branches pose a threat to park users.     Construction has begun on HWY 230, north of Encampment. The project will be similar to what Platte Valley residents saw north of Saratoga on 130 last summer, as a mill and overlay project. The construction is contracted by McGarvin-Moberly Construction out of Worland, and according to president Phil Caines, the group will start with a contractor this week to grind the top two inches off the road.
