A Saratoga resident who lives close to the river, Bob Thrasher, brought concerns about flood control to the Saratoga Town Council at the Jan. 5 meeting, wondering what plans were in the works for 2016. Mayor Ed Glode clarified that the lack of activity was due to the long wait for a ground penetrating radar study, which was determined as an improper tool in November. “Since then, we’ve toured the river with Army Corps of Engineers, and we’re going to tour it tomorrow (Jan. 6) with FEMA,...

Six months before, Gathmannn had stated that the oil industry doesn’t always look at the short term picture of oil prices, but since then, the price per barrel has plummeted, according to reports in the oil industry. With the drop in oil...

Somewhere in the Middle East a new scourge is rising with the goal of taking down the American federal government. Okay, so the Middle East I am talking about is the middle east of Oregon and the terrorists involved here are a bunch of mostly white rednecks with “legitimate” axes to grind with the federal gummint. So righteous were “Y’all Qaeda’s1” claims that they banded together to raid and occupy the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the offices of which were closed for the weekend. Th...

"It's kind of like playing your brother in one-on-one. You hate to lose to him, but if you are going to lose to somebody, that's not always the worst thing." "We played them close for...
