Valley Chamber recognizes community members

On March 10, members of the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce (S/PVCC) gathered in the Great Hall of the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) to honor local businesses, organizations and volunteers from throughout the community during the Annual Chamber Dinner.

Investing in non-profits

On March 15 the student council for Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School was presented with a check for $460 from the Bank of Commerce (BOC).
The HEM student council was chosen by the employees of BOC for the donation because they contribute half the funds and BOC matches the money.
Copper France, president and CEO of the bank, said this is done monthly and has been going on since 2018.

Valley healthcare organization receives grant

The Platte Valley Healthcare Project (PVHP) has received a $500,000 grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to purchase an advanced computed tomography (CT) scanner for the North Platte Valley Medical Center. 

NP Lake checks in

Carey Lake is the nurse practitioner at the Medicine Bow Clinic. He is a relatively new face having taken over about three months ago. Lake is also the Hanna representative of South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services (SCWEMS) and chairman. He has lived in Hanna for a few years, but he was born and raised in Kentucky and Indiana.

Economic development to get new site

The Carbon County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) met on January 24 at the Rawlins City Hall.
The CCEDC meets quarterly and one of the main focuses of this meeting was to preview the new website being designed by VIP Marketing.
Cindy Loose, owner of VIP Marketing, attended the meeting to answer questions about the prototype she had designed for the board.

Spirited about spirits

The Brush Creek Distillery (BCD) has brought on an individual who knows and loves the world of spirits. Not the ghostie type, but the type which are produced in a copper still. Shawn Hogenmiller has recently been made the Hospitality and Barrel Director for BCD.
Shawn knows a thing or two about the world of spirits having spent over 30 years working in various food and beverage positions, with the emphasis being on beverage.

Finding balance

Balance is an important concept to Jeff Mincy. As he takes over the administrative leadership of the Platte Valley Clinic and the Saratoga Care Center, which he will lead until the North Platte Valley Medical Center opens in August, he says it’s important to balance four things for the success of the healthcare system: clinical care, customer service, financial responsibility and employee satisfaction.
