Fly tying at Trout Unlimited's speaker series

While winter weather settles in, there is still a chance to get a fly fishing fix at Trout Unlimited’s speaker series on the first Monday of the month.

Anglers learned tricks and tips to tying three prominent Platte Valley macroinvertebrates from Trout Unlimited Wyoming Coordinator Ian McCreary at a corner table in The Malt on December 2.

Four Tigers Recognized

Four players from the Encampment Tigers’ six-man football team were selected to the 1A All-Conference honors, two were selected to the All-State team.

After a seven win season and a thrilling triple-overtime loss to the Burlington Huskies in the state semifinals last month — Korbyn Barkhurst, Gunner Knotwell, Tyrel Brown and Brian Smith earned 2024 all-conference selections by the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Volleyball players get KUDOS for good sportsmanship

The 2024 Volleyball season is over, but the Carbon County School District 2 (CCSD2) received letters from the Wyoming High School Athletics Association (WHSAA) on the sportsmanship of students in Saratoga and Encampment.

For Saratoga, Addie Collins was complimented for “hitting throughout the game and her never quit attitude,” during the SMHS vs Encampment game.

Valley volleyball players make all-conference, all-state

One volleyball player from Saratoga and three volleyball players from Encampment made the All-Conference Volleyball Team.

Josie Little, of Saratoga, made the list while Kyenna Jackson, Kristie Jordan and Eckerley Pickett, of Encampment were added to the honor list.

Jackson also made the all-state volleyball team.

All four players are seniors at their respective schools.

Cowgirls Roll Past Cougars on Education Day

The Wyoming Cowgirls ran away with an 80-54 victory Friday over Colorado Christian in front of over 4,000 fans in Wyoming’s annual Education Day Game. Wyoming scored a season-high 40 bench points in the win while all available Cowgirls appeared in the contest.

“I think that’s huge that we got to play everybody today and got so many contributions,” said Heather Ezell postgame.
