    All graduating seniors in Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD#2), including home schooled seniors, can now apply for the Valley Service organization (VSO) $500.00 Youth Citizenship Award. Application forms have been distributed to the counselors at all CCSD#2 high schools, according to Carol Beach, VSO chairman of the award project. Application deadline is April 15.   • Girls get off the blocks quickly, place sixth at meet

    Encampment High School’s boys’ and girls’ track team competed in Casper at the Glen Legler Early Bird Invite on Saturday, March 19. For the event, the Encampment girls’ team placed sixth overall with 26 points. The Boys’ team did not place. McKenzie Powell placed first with her 34’ and one-half-inch triple jump, and second place by running the 800-meter run in two minutes 31 seconds.     The Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD#2) Speech and Debate team nabbed the 1A/2A state championship, bringing home yet another sweepstakes trophy. The team's last state title was in 2014.     There are more hobby beekeepers in Wyoming than commercial beekeepers, which highlights an interesting trend in the future of beekeeping. According to the Wyoming Department of Agriculture (WDA) registration records in 2015, Wyoming had 431 total registered beekeepers. Of those, 163 were commercial beekeepers and 268 were hobbyist beekeepers who owned 10 hives or less.     Fifteen Carbon County School District No. 2 basketball players were named as all-conference and five of those were voted all-state by 1A and 2A coaches, who voted on who they believe are the best basketball players in the state.     The Saratoga Lions Club is hosting the 36th annual Donald E. Erickson Memorial Chariot Races, the state championships, in Saratoga this year. Traditionally held President's Day weekend, this year's Chariot Races were moved to correspond with the state racing association finals to be hosted in Saratoga.     The Saratoga Panthers lost to the Lusk Tigers 65-51 Friday. Head coach Jason Williams said he was very proud of how hard the boys played, noting that they came back from a 15 point lag and then led for some time.
