Forest Road 830 (Deep Jack Road), and Forest Road 443 (Jerry Accord Road) in the Sierra Madre Range, Medicine Bow National Forest, will be temporarily closed for public safety during roadside hazard tree removal work this fall. The Sierra Madre Range and Snowy Range within the Medicine Bow National Forest have both entered Stage 1 fire restrictions effective July 5 according to a press release from the United States Forest Service (USFS). Cool weather and consistent rains aided fire crews over the weekend in containing the Badger Creek Fire. While the fire had been doubling it’s size on a daily basis throughout the week, it held steady at 20,000 acres during the cloudy and rainy weekend. U.S. Forest Service and Albany County fire personnel responded to a wildfire Sunday afternoon in the southern Snowy Range, Medicine Bow National Forest, which forced evacuations from multiple locations due to rapid growth.
