On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at approximately 2130 hours, a Rawlins Police Sergeant observed a conversion van which was being operated in the industrial area located on the east end of Rawlins. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has declared success in completing a rotenone project to remove illegally-stocked yellow perch from Saratoga Lake. According to a press release from the game and fish department, approximately 14,000 pounds of rotenone were applied to Saratoga Lake in mid-September. In October, fisheries biologists held two different sampling events at the lake to see if any fish remained. On Saturday, June 25, the Encampment High School graduating class of 1953 met to celebrate their 69th reunion. The Platte Valley Arts Council sponsored the 6th annual Hay Bale Sculpture Contest in October and the winning entry is SunnyCup. The Arts Council began the competition to show off some good ole’ ranch ingenuity. The Carbon County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the remains found on October 16, 2022 to be that of those belonging to Mark Strittmater. Mark Strittmater is the hunter who went missing on October 19, 2019 while hunting in the Sierra Madres.
