Prolonged dry conditions have prompted the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to ban open fires on all Game and Fish Commission-owned and administered lands within the Laramie Region. “Areas are drying out and have created excellent fuel conditions and the potential for human-caused fires has become very high. Guy Erickson broke 90 in 18 holes for the first time in his high school career this weekend. Eden Deorio, a former Valley Foods employee charged with stealing more than $30,000 from her employer, has pleaded No Contest to misdemeanor Theft. The state will re-file the charge, originally a felony, in Circuit Court. Because Deorio pled No Contest instead of going to trial, she will be charged with a lesser crime. The sentence includes 180 days of incarceration with a credit of 13 days served pre-sentence and fees, including restitution to Valley Foods. The first case of West Nile virus in Wyoming this season has been reported to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), affecting a Sheridan County resident. “We want to remind residents to take steps to protect themselves and their families from mosquito bites,” said Katie Bryan, epidemiologist with WDH. Rescue teams from Carbon and Albany Counties worked for about six hours on July 4 to rescue a 20 year old Laramie woman who was injured while snowboarding down Medicine Bow Peak above Lake Marie on the Carbon and Albany County line.
