    The Wyoming 1A/2A State Champion Carbon County School District No. 2 speech and debate team will host its annual Speech Night at 8 p.m. April 11 at the Platte Valley Community Center.     The Carbon County Library System announced several special events this month, including National Library Week, which runs from April 11 to April 16. Other events for the month include the Encampment School Art Show display, a book discussion group and a celebration of Drop Everything and Read Month.   • BLM advises antler hunters to keep to the road

    Antler shed gatherers and all recreationists need to drive on existing roads. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) reminds people planning to drive on public lands this spring that it is illegal to travel off existing roads in a motorized vehicle.     Encampment High School’s boys’ and girls’ track team competed in Casper at the Glen Legler Early Bird Invite on Saturday, March 19. For the event, the Encampment girls’ team placed sixth overall with 26 points. The Boys’ team did not place. McKenzie Powell placed first with her 34’ and one-half-inch triple jump, and second place by running the 800-meter run in two minutes 31 seconds.     There are more hobby beekeepers in Wyoming than commercial beekeepers, which highlights an interesting trend in the future of beekeeping. According to the Wyoming Department of Agriculture (WDA) registration records in 2015, Wyoming had 431 total registered beekeepers. Of those, 163 were commercial beekeepers and 268 were hobbyist beekeepers who owned 10 hives or less.     The Saratoga Lions Club is hosting the 36th annual Donald E. Erickson Memorial Chariot Races, the state championships, in Saratoga this year. Traditionally held President's Day weekend, this year's Chariot Races were moved to correspond with the state racing association finals to be hosted in Saratoga.
