    Education Week’s 21st annual report card ranked Wyoming seventh in the nation for education quality. Quality Counts - Under Construction: Building on ESSA’s K-12 Foundation gave Wyoming an overall score of 80.3 out of 100 points and a grade of B-minus.     Encampment K-12 School has announced that it will again be holding “Penny Wars” this year as part of the school’s homecoming week celebration. The fundraiser, which collects money for the Encampment Medical Fund, gives every class at the school buckets to collect pennies and folding money. Pennies and paper money are considered “Positive” and cause classes to accumulate points. However, classes can sabotage one another by placing nickels, dimes and quarters into other classes’ buckets.     State winners were named at the 2016 Wyoming Make It With Wool (MIWW) Competition held on Dec. 4-5 at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper. First place in the Junior Division went to Ashlynn Johnson of Encampment who modeled a 4-piece ensemble including a teal/green/brown bouclé wool coat, teal asymmetrical-style jacket, ivory shell top, and tailored brown slacks.   • Christmas tree permits offered

    Permits to cut Christmas trees on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests are now available at multiple locations in Colorado and Wyoming, according to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service. Each permit costs $10 and allows for the cutting of one tree on National Forest System Lands. There is a limit of five permits per household. Trees must be for personal use, and cannot be resold.
