  • Seeing what is right with kids today

    Liz Wood|Aug 13, 2014

Carbon County Fair is over. The kids who did well are now at the Wyoming State Fair to see how they do against the top in the state. Fair week is always an exhausting week for me, so I can’t even imagine what it is like for the parents and grandparents who spend the week at fair working with their children, advising them on how to get their animals ready to show. These families have spent months working with their kids, reminding them to do chores, taking them to pre-fair shows, loading the a...

  • Bullfest brings big bucks

Both men scored an 83 in the first round of the Bullfest Saturday night. The weather was cool, and the bulls were mad enough to give many bull riders a less-than-eight second ride. Six riders would get thrown before the buzzer went off, and only three men rode the required eight seconds in the long round. Josh... Full story

    Liz Wood|Jul 30, 2014

Sarah Keller's horse, Miracle Maddie, had been ridden for 60 days last year and then put out to pasture for the winter. As Cameron worked with Keller's horse, he said if you quit working with the horse when she is trying to get away, you end up teaching the horse the wrong thing. "You've got to have enough common sen...

  • Jacked up on Blackhall Road

    Liz Wood|Jul 23, 2014

When I was 15 years old, my sister pressured me to take the driver’s permit examination with her. My sister, who is one year younger than me, couldn’t wait to drive. I had friends who drove or I took the bus, so I really didn’t care. Living in a city without a driver’s license is a lot easier than in rural Wyoming. My dad, who did a lot of mechanical work in his spare time, thought it would be a good idea to teach my sister and I how to change the oil and rotate tires before we learned how to...
