    With opening coming this weekend, the Grand Encampment Museum (GEM) has undergone several changes in anticipation of a busy summer. The museum, which opens Saturday and closes in December, has had new exhibits added and has restructured for the summer season.     Braxton Schwartzkopf wrapped up the spring golf season on a high note last weekend, taking first place again at the 2A regional and conference tournament in Evanston. Schwartzkopf shot a total score of 156, consisting of 80 points from Friday and 76 from Saturday. Chaze Wiant took 10th place from a 211 score, which included separate scores of 103 and 108.     After an impressive weekend at regionals, six Encampment Tigers are now headed to the 2014 Wyoming State High School Track and Field Meet in Casper. Out of the seven team competitors, McKenzie Powell, Alyssa Barkhurst, Karie Russell, Guy Erickson, KeeGan Johnson and Jacob Wells all qualified for state last weekend at their regional meet in Lander.     Riverside Town Council members were reminded of general elections coming up while at Thursday’s town council meeting. Town Clerk/Treasurer Jan Cook said the filing period for people interested in running for office positions in the general election is May 15-30. For the placement of a new generator, the council approved a bid from Prairie Dog Electric out of Saratoga. The bid was in the dollar amount of $5,248.58.     The Encampment Town Council expressed excitement for the 19th annual Encampment/Riverside Cow Pie Open golf tournament, coming to town June 7. Jim McKinney, who coordinates the Cow Pie Open, asked if the council could help with another monetary donation for the local tourney.     One week after breaking a school long jump record, Alyssa Barkhurst’s quick feet earned her another state qualifying time at the Shane Brock Invite.     Saratoga High School junior Braxton Schwartzkopf swung his way to first place at last weekend's Lusk Invitational golf tournament. Schwartzkopf earned his gold with a score of 78, and placed sixth at the previous invite in Lander.     Seven Encampment students were awarded first-place blue ribbons for their works of art shown at the Wyoming State Art Symposium. Six students were present at the symposium, which took place April 24-26 at the Casper Events Center.
