    Council members discussed town cleanup and a potential new visitor’s center in Rawlins at Riverside’s town council meeting Thursday evening.     Plans for a new Carbon County visitor’s center in Rawlins were discussed at the Encampment Town Council meeting Thursday evening. Jim McKinney, chairman of the Carbon County Visitors Council, told council members, CCVC wanted to apply for a Wyoming Business Council Business Ready Community Planning Grant, which would go toward the new visitor’s center in Rawlins.     Local writer Josh Wood spent an entire day at HEM High School as the artist-in-residence Sept. 25, sharing inspiration and words of wisdom with aspiring student authors.     With two competitions left, the Saratoga Middle School volleyball team fought hard during their weekend games against Little Snake River and Walden. The Panther A team lost Saturday’s match against Little Snake River, with 13-25 and 17-25, but the B team won with 19-25, 25-11 and 25-16.     The Saratoga High School Panthers underwent a tough Homecoming loss in football Monday, suffering a close 26-40 takedown by the Kaycee Buckaroos. The Panthers did come close to leading in the second half after Tate Stinson made his second touchdown of the game, followed by a successful PAT kick from Rodrigo Escobedo.     Senior Cameron Collamer nearly won it all in the high school boys division at the Lyman Cross-Country Invite last Thursday. Collamer secured his second place out of the high school boys with a time of 19:53.     One person’s old used book can be another person’s treasure at the Saratoga Friends of the Library-sponsored Fall Book Sale this week. The book sale is open to all and runs until Oct. 4.     Efforts from Saratoga’s 2013 Race for the Cure aided in taking another step forward in finding a cure for cancer last week. Two representatives from the Susan G.     With a sharp rise in recent whopping cough cases reported to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), Wyoming’s state health officer is encouraging awareness and vaccination to help protect vulnerable residents from the disease.
