The Saratoga Panthers boys track team competed at state for three days. Grant Bartlett led the way placing 2nd in both the 1600 Meter Run and 3200 Meter Run with the times of 4:51.96 and 10:34.37. The Encampment Tigers finished their boys and girls season at state in Casper, Wyoming from Thursday May 18 to Saturday May 20. All the teams from around the state came to compete and the tigers went to work in the 1A classification. PIckett came away as both the 1A boys state champion in the shot put and the discus. With their impressive performance at Regionals, the Lady Panthers Track Team solidified many individual’s positions in various events to have an opportunity to repeat as state champs. The 4x100, 4x400, 4x800,and sprint medley relay teams dominated the meet with first place finishes. These performances alone led to 40 team points. The Encampment Tigers High School boys and girls track teams competed in Regionals held in Shoshoni on May 12 and May 13. The meet was hosted by Shoshoni High School. The Platte Valley Drama Club performed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory four times from Friday April 28 to Sunday April 30. There was a strong turnout from the Valley that came to support the drama club. From Kindergarten to fifth grade the Country music entertained and the attendees. The Second graders provided "Honky Tonk Man"-in the style of Johnny Horner. The track meet that was scheduled for Wheatland on April 14 was canceled due to weather, and so next day, the Encampment High School (EHS) track and field team went to Rock Springs High School to compete in the Ted Schroeder Meet of Hope on April 15. Road and Bridge Road and Bridge Manager Kandis Fritz gave the commissioners a breakdown of the the winter costs accrued by Carbon County Road and Bridge including fuel from December of 2022, through March 2023, the total expenditures were $152,155.72.
