    Brian Trautwein|Jan 30, 2013

The Encampment Lady Tigers took on North Park and Rock River last week. The Tigers played much better basketball this week and the scores reflected the progress. The last time Encampment played North Park they were beaten by 30. This time the Lady Tigers fell just 4 points short of beating the Wildcats. Alyssa Barkhurst scored well in the first and second quarters and the whole offense was passing the ball around and making good decisions about the shots they took. At the end of the first...

  • Grapplers dominate on home mats

    Brian Trautwein|Jan 30, 2013

The Panther wrestlers hosted a wrestling meet Thursday. The grapplers put 10 men on the mat, and although not everyone had wins, the wrestlers were obviously fired up. The meet was a Quadrangular, more of a practice than a regular meet, and the results don’t count toward conference records, only personal records. Nonetheless, the grapplers had 36 matches and won 24 of them. “When you get to wrestle at home only once or twice a year, it’s pretty easy to get excited to wrestle at home,” coach Jare...

    Joe Elder Brian Trautwein|Jan 16, 2013

With temperatures dropping well below zero over the weekend and projected lows in the teens all week, anglers should have augers ready to drill through thick ice on Saratoga Lake for the 30th Annual Fishing Derby this weekend. Thirty years ago, C.J. Box, Wyoming writer and creator of the fishing derby, had lived in Saratoga for a couple of years working for the Saratoga Sun and knew January was a slow period for the town.
